A newsletter has been kicked off to demonstrate to dads and male carers ways they can build positive relationships with their children.
The Fathers and Children United publication has been set up by Bradford Council's Parental Involvement Team to give fathers a range of information about services and activities on offer.
Edition one also includes top tips on listening skills, getting to know your child better and details about things to do together, such as cooking and various games.
The newsletter also backs the Council's b someone campaign which dedicates 2009 as a year of education.
It also encourages adults to be more involved with children and young people's education, and learning to help them fulfil their potential.
Coun Michael Kelly, the Council's Executive Member for Services to Children and Young People, said: "All adults play an important role in a child or young person's life.
"It's vital fathers and male carers know how they get support and advice about how they can enrich the time they spend with their children, and this newsletter is an excellent way of doing just that."
Michael Simpson, the Council's Parental Involvement Team's Engaging Fathers Officer, said: "When fathers make time to be with their children it can have a huge impact on their child's self esteem as well as boosting their relationship.
"Dads and male carers are playing a larger role in children's lives than in past generations - more and more are doing the school run, reading with their children and are more affectionate than their fathers were with them.
"The newsletter gives them details on how they improve their parenting skills, the importance of parents creating good memories, as well as local and national contacts relevant to fathers."
The publication also includes details about the popular Dads' Nights at various primary schools across the district where fathers and their children take part in sports, crafts and various other activities.
