Children and adults cook up a treat

Children and parents cooked up a treat at a Bradford school.
Vegetable soup, lasagne and fruit kebabs were on the menu for pupils and adults who took part in a Big Cookathon
Backed by the district's b someone education campaign, which is all about boosting children's and young people's skills, the Let's Get Cooking event was held at St Mary's and St Peter's Primary school in Nidd Street.
Coun Michael Kelly, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Services to Children and Young People, said: "The event was a wonderful opportunity for parents, community members and children to learn new skills and share the experience of preparing food together."
Parent and governor Rihana Basharat said: "The Cookathon was a great way for parents to interact with each other and their children.
"The local community has really got behind the school and supported us in donating food, prizes and their time to help out."
Nando's restaurant staff helped run the workshop and prizes for a parents' biscuit competition, and Akbar's and Omar Khan's curry houses.
Let's Get Cooking is a growing network of school cooking clubs which have been funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
