Welcome

The bsomeone campaign celebrates and encourages learning aspiration and achievement in recognition that educational attainment and skills development are top priorities for the district.

As you may know, the Council has initiated the partnership b someone campaign, which marked 2009 as the Year of Education in Bradford District.

Partners commission and deliver a wide range of learning and skills development opportunities and activities. Bsomeone aims to maximise the benefit of this mainstream spend by co-ordinating and branding activity into a recognisable campaign, that raises awareness amongst residents and businesses about the importance of education and skills.

The first strand of the campaign, bsomeone for your child’s future, focused on parents, carers and the wider adult role in encouraging early learning through positive interaction with young children. The campaign has received very positive national and local feedback. In a street survey, two-thirds of all respondents agreed that b someone will succeed in ‘getting many more people to spend time with their children and teach them things’.

The campaign shows how we can all support and encourage children’s learning through our everyday activities. The four activities highlighted by the campaign are reading, counting, cooking, and playing outside.

Parents are obviously the most important people in a child’s life, and teachers/school staff are vitally important too, but other adults in the wider family and community can also play a major part in helping children learn and fulfil their potential.

Hopefully this website can be used by parents, teachers and the wider community as a tool, giving them useful advice, tips, recipies and games to help encourage play and learning.

The second strand of the campaign, bsomeone for your future, is aimed at 13 - 19 year olds and focuses on the benefits for young people of taking responsibility for their own educational attainment and skills development, supported by parents, teachers, training providers, and local employers. The b someone campaign celebrates and encourages learning aspirations and achievement.
