Setting up a Direct Debit for Council Tax
Paying by direct debit is the quickest and easiest way to pay your bill.
You do not need to do anything if you have already set up a direct debit, your new bill will list the payment instalment amounts and the date they will be taken.
Setting up a direct debit is easy
You will need:
- Council Tax Reference number (from your bill)
- Bank or Building Society name
- Account number
- Sort code
- Branch address
- how many months you want to pay over:
- 10 (April to January)
- 12 (April to March)
- which day of the month you wish the payment to be taken:

For Council Tax Payers
If you wish to set up a Direct Debit for Council Tax and the name on your Council Tax bill does not match the name on the bank account from which payments are to be taken, print off a form to complete and return.

If you want to get your Council Tax bill by email, you can choose this when setting up your Direct Debit in the form above. If you're already paying by Direct Debit, you can request an e-bill only.
