Reviewing your Benefits
If you are getting Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit, we may need to review your circumstances every so often to make sure you are getting the correct amount of benefit.
We might do this by:
- Home visit - Officers will carry photo identification which they will show you before asking to enter your home. They will fill in a form on your behalf, read it back to you and ask you to sign the declaration to say that all the details are correct.
- Telephone call - The officer will fill in a form on your behalf then send you a summary letter by post for your records. If you want to confirm the review officer's identity before telling them your details, you can call us on 01274 434477.
Whether we visit you at home, or call you, we will always confirm your identity before doing a review. This is due to the Under the Data Protection Act 1998.
We might need to see evidence to support the details on your claim. Only original documents can be accepted, not photocopies.
You should not wait for a review to report a change in your circumstances.
