Discretionary Support Payments - Community Care Grants and Crisis Awards
What are Discretionary Support Payments?
They are payments to:
- meet a need which, if not met, would put at risk the health or wellbeing of you or any of your dependants,
- to enable those leaving a care home, prison, hospital or similar (e.g. women's refuge) to become established in the community.
First, work out which one applies to you:
- A Crisis Award will help with short-term needs because of an emergency or a disaster.
- Community Care Grants are intended to support vulnerable people to return to, or to remain in, the community or to ease exceptional pressure on families. There are certain criteria for qualifying for this grant.
