Stronger Communities

What is the Partnership?

The Stronger Communities Partnership is one of the six Strategic Delivery Partnerships supporting the Bradford District Partnership to improve the district, as agreed in the ‘Big Plan’.

What is the role of the Partnership?

The Partnership will work to ensure that the actions and ideas in the Strong and Cohesive Communities chapter of the ‘Big Plan’ are carried out so that everyone in Bradford:

  • has equal opportunities and choices in their lives
  • is able to get involved in their communities and have their voice listened to
  • feels safe and comfortable in their communities.
  • can get on well with people from different communities

The Partnership has lead responsibility for ensuring effective delivery of the Local Area Agreement (LAA) which commits it to meeting a series of targets linked to Government funding for the district.

Partner organisations are responsible for the delivery of outcomes. It is the Partnership’s role to co-ordinate this work and to see that outcomes and targets are met.

Who is involved?

Membership of the Stronger Communities Partnership is focused around the four Strong and Cohesive chapter themes of the ‘Big Plan’ and its LAA indicators. Membership of the Partnership is evolving and flexible and will reflect the needs of the Partnership’s work programme and delivery plan. The Partnership includes representatives from:

  • Bradford Council
  • West Yorkshire Police
  • NHS Bradford and Airedale
  • Education Bradford
  • The Voluntary and Community Sector
  • Bradford Older People’s Partnership
  • The Strategic Disability Partnership
  • The Equity Partnership
  • Bradford Youth Development Partnership
  • The Bradford District Faith Forum
  • Joseph Rowntree Foundation

How does the partnership work?

The Stronger Communities Partnership is a Strategic Delivery Partnership of the Bradford District Partnership (BDP), and is accountable to BDP. The Chair of the Partnership sits on the BDP Board.

Four Delivery Groups relating to the four ‘Big Plan’ Strong and Cohesive chapter themes report to the Stronger Communities Partnership and carry out its work. These are the:

  • Equalities Delivery Group
  • Community Relations Delivery Group
  • Civic Pride and Participation Delivery Group
  • Neighbourhood Crime and Reassurance Delivery Group

What are the Partnership Objectives?

By 2020, we want no one in the district to be disadvantaged by where they live or who they are. We will have strong and cohesive communities where people get on well, where people value each other and where everyone has the opportunity to get involved in community life in a variety of ways.
