My priorities for the past year (May 2009 - May 2010) were: |

To work with the other ward councillors, community groups, organisations and service providers to make Tong Ward and the Bradford District a better place to live
To continue to work with East Bradford Community Housing Trust to improve the housing stock within Tong Ward
To support our schools in their work to raise the level of achievement of all pupils
To support the public and voluntary sector in providing caring services within the community
To work with Holme Wood Community Council on monitoring and reviewing the Action Plan
To encourage business to locate in Tong Ward and provide jobs for the district
To work with Holme Wood Partnership on developing a masterplan for the future development of Holme Wood

What I have achieved in the past year (May 2009 - May 2010): |

Excellent Attendance at meetings of the Council and community organisations
Held surgeries twice a month with the other two Ward Councillors
Been an active member of East Bradford Incommunities Housing Trust and seen good progress with the improvement programme for houses in Bierley and Holme Wood
With others continued to develop the Holme Wood & Tong Partnership which has started work on creating a masterplan for the long term development of Holme Wood and Tong
Seen a continued improvement in pupil performance at Knowleswood Primary School where I am Vice Chair of Governors
Joined the Governing Body of Tong High School and supported the school in its endeavours to raise the achievement of all students
Through the Bradford South Area Committee secured funding for the Ward
Supported the development of the ProLogis site and welcome the opening of the Marks and Spencer Distribution Centre as a first step in the creation of new jobs for the area on the ProLogis site

To support our schools in their work to raise the level of achievement of all pupils

To work with the Holme Wood & Tong Partnership to produce a masterplan for the future development of Holme Wood and Tong
As Chair of Bradford South Area Committee, to work with officers and other Councillors to develop Neighbourhood Services. To ensure that a Bradford South Action Plan for 2011-2014 is produced and that it takes account of the views of residents collected through a range of contacts and consultations with residents
