WYHP
Welcome to the WYHP website.
West Yorkshire Housing Partnership (WYHP) is a voluntary strategic partnership of local authorities, housing associations and other stakeholders working across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield (the West Yorkshire sub-region). The Partnership developed over five years ago from joint work on housing issues, particularly the need for a shared strategic response to the challenges of changing housing demand and housing obsolescence. More recently WYHP has also developed a focus on housing affordability problems and housing growth and is working closely with the emerging Leeds City Region housing framework.
WYHP’s purpose is:
Working together to contribute to sustainable economic growth and an enhanced quality of life in West Yorkshire by improving the sub-region’s housing offer and people’s access to it
This is being achieved through:
• Working together across boundaries
• A sound evidence base
• Shaping policy and creating innovative solutions
• Influencing housing markets
• Maximising the impact of investment
• Delivering sustainable change across tenures
Within current regional structures in Yorkshire and Humberside, WYHP is responsible for: leading sub-regional housing strategy and evidence base development; assembling and ensuring delivery of the West Yorkshire Housing Investment Programme (Regional Housing Board investment) and the Housing Market Renewal Programme (national Housing Market Renewal investment, 2006-08); achieving strategic alignment between local authority and Housing Corporation/housing association programmes.
