Mental health

Sometimes mental health can feel overwhelming - please know it is okay and you are far from alone.

One in four of us will experience mental health issues in any given year and this next section is dedicated to supporting the thousands upon thousands of people who need help right now.

You can find lots of support locally and nationally:

Urgent help

If you need urgent mental health crisis support, contact First Response on 0800 952 1181, or 111 and choose the mental health option. Call 999 or go to A&E if someone's life is at risk.

Mental wellbeing

Our mental health and wellbeing affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important to us all and at every stage of life. Evidence suggests there are five steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing.

  1. Connect with other people
  2. Be physically active
  3. Learn new skills
  4. Give to others
  5. Pay attention to the moment
